BRIGHT-EYED MEDIA, INC. is a nonfiction TV casting, development and production company. We create talent-driven series intended to light people up — intellectually, artistically and emotionally.

Our team has worked with Netflix, ABC, Disney+, HBO Documentary Films, National Geographic, Food Network, Discovery Plus, HGTV, E! Entertainment, A&E, Cinemax, MTV, Discovery, Viceland, TBS, Science, and more; as well as private clients like the Producer’s Guild of America. We’ve cast multiple series in development for leading production companies that have sold. We also created, sold and produced our our own series for Food Network x Snapchat.

Jamie Kohen, CSA - Founder

Jamie Kohen

As the Head of Development & Casting at Bright-Eyed Media, Jamie Kohen works closely with agents, talent, production studios and network executives to ideate, cast and produce original nonfiction TV series. Her aim is to develop eye-opening series rooted in the powerful impact of the arts on people.

Jamie has run large teams on 200+ TV episodes — documentary, unscripted, competitions — working in development, on pilots and on some of the longest-running, Emmy Award-winning series on TV. She’s supervised and run casting on the Netflix series Dating Around (seasons 1 & 2), which won a Critics’ Choice Award in 2019; Serving the Hamptons on Discovery+; Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? on ABC starring Host Jimmy Kimmel; The Misery Index on TBS, starring Host Jameela Jamil and The Tenderloins (Impractical Jokers on TruTV); MTV’s True Life, an Emmy-Award winning documentary series; and in doc development for Disney+, National Geographic, Discovery+, Discovery Channel, Food Network, HGTV, A&E, and E! — multiple series sold. Jamie has deep roots with Food Network, she’s cast 18-seasons of their longest running series Chopped, as well as Throwdown with Bobby Flay; Chopped Junior and Me or the Menu — she also sold a series to Food Network for Snapchat (Munch Rush) that she developed and produced — it was an Official Selection in the NY Women in Film & TV Fall Shorts Festival.

For a decade prior to working in TV, Jamie ran marketing, branding and design initiatives (1999-2010) for NYC restaurants; il BucoBalthazarPastis, Morandi, Pravda and others. She worked on the design team of renowned NYC Restaurateur Keith McNally for whom she sourced and purchased architectural salvage and interior home elements for the gut renovation & restoration of his NYC townhome. She was also the publicist to Celebrity Psychic Judi Hoffman and Brooklyn-based, eco-friendly real estate developer Greenstone.

Jamie is a member of the Casting Society of America where she sits on the Reality TV Committee, she’s a voting member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and of NY Women in Film and Television. She studied Interior Space Planning at Parsons School of Design and Psychology at The New School, has traveled the globe extensively and was born and raised in New York City.
